'Ello, Love! I'm London. Although I am just a young chap, I am quickly absorbing information from my world. I will sit on command and take treats in my mouth with the utmost politeness. Furthermore, I will occasionally stand up to greet you. I am still learning new tricks, such as 'come' and 'stay,' which I am told are progressing quite nicely. I am also working on potty training (or using the loo, as they say) and I tend to hesitate a bit while loading into the car. I am looking for someone to care for me with love and patience. Thus far, I get along with just about everyone: men, women, children, even other dogs! I have yet to ... (Read More)meet any cats. Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Hello, my name is Charlie, and I'm a laid back, easy-going, friendly guy. I'm in a foster home and I just love being with my foster Mom, wherever she goes, I like to follow and be by her side, or by her feet. I am housetrained, and enjoy staying in the back yard if my foster Mom stays out with me. Otherwise, I just want to come back in to be with her. I love car rides, people (including young children), and I like to lay down with my people, or on my special 'dog pillows.' I like being a super good boy, and I listen really well! I don't jump up on people, I take my time eating, and I love giving kisses and receiving belly rubs! My foster ... (Read More)Mom is so loving and kind, I feel so special when she talks to me and pets me at the same time, I find it very calming and helps me adjust to new situations in a relaxed way. I would do well in an apartment, or a house, and I really just like being wherever my people are. When my foster Mom leaves the house, I go in a crate for a couple of hours with no problem. I like that she is home a lot though. If someone comes to the door, I might bark, and then I am told to 'sit at the door' and 'no bark.' My foster Mom holds my collar while the person comes in, and then I am ok. I am a good guard dog, but warm up to the visitors as soon as my foster Mom introduces us and I know they are welcome. I'm good on a leash, and don't chase after cats in my neighbourhood. One of my cute quirks, is that I love bikes - I only wish I could ride one! Lab    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered

Hey thanks for clicking! My name is Rosco and I am a sweeter than sweet, 5-year-old, chocolate lab. I am going to tell you a lot of great things about me, so please don't think I'm bragging, just telling it like it is! Here goes: I am super smart and very well mannered - I know 'sit' 'down' 'stay' 'come' 'off' 'wait' 'drop it' 'take it.' At my foster home, I'm now working on 'leave it' and 'no begging.' I absolutely LOVE kids, and I struck gold landing in a foster home with two of them (ages 6 & 11)! I get along with other dogs, and I'd sure like to meet a cat one of these days. I love making new acquaintances. I'm housetrained, and have ... (Read More)quite a simple system worked out with my foster Dad - I look at him, go stand by the door, and he asks me 'You gotta go out?' I also walk well on a leash (never pulling), and think I could be a great off-leash dog after building up some trust in my new people. I don't chase after squirrels or bunnies even if I approach them and they scamper off. I am pretty easy to please in the exercise department, some fetch or a brief walk satisfies my needs, yet I could probably make a good jogging partner if you like that sort of thing! I am not easily startled, and don't mind other dogs that try to dominate me. See? There's another example of my excellent manners! I do have an impressive bark and will sometimes use it to protect, but this is very rare, as I just love everyone. Have I mentioned I'm not a fussy eater? I will immediately approve of any treats or bones you present to me, and although I appear quite excited, I take them very gently. My love of food will be a great motivator for me for future training, but in all honesty, a couple of scratches and a 'Good Boy!' are all I really need. I also love toys and I find it fun to bring you my toys and drop them in your lap. When you have had enough of my games, I will willingly stop at your request. In the last few days, I have had a car ride, a bath, had my nails clipped, ears poked and teeth looked at with no problems at all. I stand patiently for brushing or bathing, and my foster Dad says I am very respectful of the furniture/bed by not climbing up unless invited. Once invited however, I'll make a pillow out of you if you'll let me! I love being scratched and have very convincing puppy dog eyes when I want more! What would a love bug be without lots of kisses? Yes, I am a kisser, and my foster Dad is training me to restrain myself a little. I'm improving a great deal already, but like to sneak one in every now and again! I am a great family dog and can't wait to call your home, mine too! If you'd like to meet me, please fill out the online app today! Health: Needs to be Neutered

Howdy folks, the name's Ruthaford. I feel like I am in a time warp since the kind people at ARR rescued me from the country roads in rural Colorado! Suddenly, I'm in an amazing place called a 'foster home,' where there are actual BOWLS full of food and water, every day! It's warm and comfy in this foster home, and I even have people! My foster people have been doting on me in all kinds of ways I'm not used to (but quickly learning to love!). They pet me, take me for walks, and best of all, give me chew bones! I've been checked over from head to toe, so I can get all spruced up and ready to be adopted into my new retirement home. And if it's ... (Read More)anything like my foster home, I think I'll just consider myself a lottery winner! I am a sweet, laid back, gentle, older fella, who enjoys the outdoors and the company of other dogs. I'm told I take treats gently, walk well on a leash and am good in a crate. I am easy going, and have a feeling cats would be nice to live with as well. Apparently I was in the presence of a horse recently, and didn't even notice it. Calm, cool, collected - that's me! If you'd like to meet me, please fill out the online app today! German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Incontinent

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Hi there, I'm Foxy, a 5-1/2 year-old German Shepherd/Husky mix. Let me count the ways I will be an awesome addition to your familyČ'Ř| I'm housetrained, great on a leash, and smart - I know 'sit' 'shake' and 'lay down' - it's pretty impressive. I'm sometimes a little shy at first, and then my easygoing, sweet and calm disposition reveals itself quickly. I like getting out for walks and car rides, and definitely lots of belly rubs! I'm such a patient girl, and I will gently take biscuits and other treats from you - I love to listen and be a good girl, and a food reward is my greatest motivator! I am also ... (Read More)house trained and learned to use this new thing called a 'dog door' over the week I have been in my foster home. Twice daily, I have to take a pill with my food (for incontinence). It's no big deal, my foster mom hides it in some canned food while I eat, and I don't even know it's there! With the help of this medicine, I am just like any other dog. Unfortunately, this is a common trait when female dogs are spayed later in their lives (which of course I had no control of). Other then this little thing, I am 'such a love!' I will make a great family dog! On the medicine, I am like any other dog. I am happy, quiet (but vocal when excited- must be the Husky in me), very chill and calm and like to lay around with my foster brothers and sister, but also perk up and am active when you get the harness and leash out (I LOVE to go for walks and let my nose explore all the different scents on the trail). I would make a great hiking partner, too! I tend to do better with dogs my size or bigger. If you'd like to meet me, please fill out the online app today!     Tanya needs a loving home as her owner is terminally ill. She is about 7 yrs old, house broken, well trained, obedient, loyal and protective. She is best with women, children 6+, and older adults. She loves to be outdoors and indoors, never jumps on furniture, only chews her toys and 'baby'. Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered

Hey! I'm a Chihuahua mix named Little Bear. I'm 9 years young, and so grateful to have been rescued and placed in a wonderful foster home. I'm a friendly fellow who gets along with other dogs, adults, and older children. At my intake interview they asked me about 'cats,' and my answer was 'what's a cat?' I think I might like to meet one someday and see what they are all about! I know how to walk well on a leash, enjoy car rides and baths, and know the commands 'Let's go!' and 'Come here!' I like to be held, petted, and snuggled, and am somewhat protective of my person when we are around other dogs. Friendly? Check. Easy going? Check. Barker? ... (Read More)NOPE. Potty trained? Getting there! Things I like: bones, treats, food, and playing football-fetch! I found a toy bin in my foster home and dug straight to the bottom to find the rubber football. My foster Mom throws it and I run and fetch it, over and over - fun for hours! I adore being in the same room with my person as a loyal friend and companion! I will love you a lot, and might even show my protective qualities if I think I need to. Apparently I'm going to be 'altered' in the near future, which seems like a good idea because they tell me this will help mellow my competitiveness when I'm around other unaltered male dogs. Cool!     Hi there! I'm Templeton. I'm named after the mischievous rat in 'Charlotte's Web' because I came from a barn (where I was starving, feral and sick) AND because I'm a super sweet, but very mischievous guy! Obviously, I'm no longer sick, and my foster dad says I'm the PERFECT mix of kitten craziness and cuddliness, so nope, not feral anymore either! In fact, now that I know what love and attention are like, I would be happy to get it all day long--proud attention hog here! I'm also too darn cute to resist!     Howdy there! My name is Wilbur, and just like the pig in 'Charlotte's Web' I came from a barn and had little chance of surviving. Thankfully, ARR stepped in and look at me now!! I have a tipped ear because I was once feral--not anymore! My foster mom calls me her 'chunky cuddle monkey.' I also have a bent tail because it got broken when I was at the barn, but that just makes me interesting--doesn't bother me and adds to my awesomeness, I say! I'm a very social guy, I like to explore things and play, but I'm not a crazy rambunctious kitten. I'm a low-key member of Future Lap Cats of America (hee-hee). I adore my litter mates (hey, ... (Read More)maybe you could adopt two of us!) and try to be friends with the other cats in the house, but back off if they don't want to hang out with me. The resident dog is sometimes annoying, but I mostly ignore him. so I'd probably do OK with a calm dog too. I had an awfully difficult start to my story--sick, starving, scared and almost sent back to the barn to die. I got my second chance, and now, I'm looking forward to writing the happiest ending imaginable with my new forever family! Rescue Me ID: 14-08-28-00644Agnes (female)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi I'm Agnes, aren't I the most beautiful girl you've seen? I am currently living with a loving and kind foster, while I wait for my forever home. I love to ride in the car and am a very good girl if you have to leave me for a few minutes. I am not destructive to anything in the car and will just sit and stare in the direction you went, waiting for you to return. I'm also great in my crate, thankfully my foster makes sure I go out after I eat and wake up - no exceptions! My foster Mom ways I am doing wonderfully at walking with a harness and leash, boasting that I have stopped pulling all the time. She lets me sleep in her bed, which I ... (Read More)absolutely LOVE, and she doesn't even mind my snoring. She's so awesome. I get along well with my foster siblings (one big dog, and a smaller alpha dog), and I even have a lovable human granddaughter who I enjoy loving back. I like to play ball sometimes, and can be a bit rough or aggressive, but it is always in a playful way, and am never aggressive toward any dog or person. I was starved when I got here, so I sometimes gobble my food to the point of choking. I'm getting better now that I know I will be taken care of and fed daily, so I am sure I will continue to progress in this area of insecurity. My foster has put her hand in my bowl and I have been good with her, but no one else has tried this so no guarantees at this time. I have a small frame but getting stronger and stronger - with all this good lovin' and being taken care of properly, I will get up to my proper weight and be a sturdy and stocky girl. I have been damaged emotionally and it may take me a while to trust, but I have come a long way from when I first came to live with my foster Mom a short time ago. Understandably I can have separation anxiety, and bark when she leaves the house, sometimes for quite a while. I am so lucky to have a loving foster Mom, and I know there is a lucky family out there somewhere that will make sure I am loved, safe and never hungry again. In return I will be your best friend forever once we are bonded. If you'd like to meet me, please fill out the online app today!     Hi my name is Charlotte. My brothers and sisters and I came to ARR from a barn in Eastern Colorado, so our foster parents named us after 'Charlotte's Web' characters. We were sick, starving and feral, but look at me now! Obviously, I have stunning good looks, but I'm also a super sweet girl who LOVES to be petted and scratched behind the ears. I also enjoy having my chest rubbed and will try to groom you, so I give kitty kisses.     Howdy! My name is Fern. My brothers and sisters and I came to ARR from a barn in Eastern Colorado, so our foster parents named us after 'Charlotte's Web' characters.     Hi there, I am a sweet and cute girl called Harley! I'm a two-year-old lab mix, full of energy and affection, and I love giving hugs and kisses. I am already totally house broken and crate trained, I don't stray from my yard at all (which my foster Mom seems to like), and my foster Mom is teaching me how to walk on a leash! Oh, the joys of this new life as a rescued dog! I know a few basic commands, but would really like some more training so I can be even smarter! If you are a hiker, I think I would make a great hiking companion. I have varied reactions to other dogs, and at my foster home, I live with a dog who is older and not as ... (Read More)energetic as I am - I'm starting to settle into this relationship, but I think I might do better in a home where I'm the only dog, or maybe with a dog that has the same high energy levels as I do. I haven't been introduced to cats yet, so I can't really say yay or nay at this point - I might be willing to give it a go! I would love a new home, with an attentive family, who will give me constant reassurance, love, and guidance. I will love you more than you can imagine! Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Vaccinations Current

Talia is an affectionate and snuggly Chihuahua recently rescued from a shelter in Kansas. She has settled in great to her foster home and gets along with adults and other small dogs although she is timid at first. She has not been around children or large dogs, but her foster mom thinks she would get along well with older children and and easy-going large dogs. Once comfortable in her surroundings she is very motivated by food and has learned to sit and twirl for treats. She will even smile for you when spoken to like a baby. She is taken out every few hours to relieve herself on grass but has not yet learned to use the doggie door. She ... (Read More)walks great on a leash and enjoys walking with her foster doggie siblings everyday. She plays great with other small dogs and likes to zoom around the yard in a game of tag, roll in the grass, and bask in the sunshine. She has a unique coat that is as soft as a rabbit and she doesn't shed!...perfect for lots of lap warming and cuddling. She adores her foster mom like mad, though it took several days for her to learn to trust her new temporary family. She needs a forever home without a lot of people coming and going and one or two humans that she can bond deeply with. If you can be patient and supportive for a few days until this sweet girl warms up to you she is worth the wait! She is wonderful dog just waiting to be loved forever. Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Meet Petunia! She is a Chihuahua mix who is about 6 months old and weighs about 12 pounds. She is a sweetheart and still a young puppy who is in need of training of all sorts: in the house and crate, on the leash and basic commands. Her foster parents are starting with 'Sit' currently. They suggest a puppy training class for Petunia would be fantastic for her social skills and progress. She is food and treat-motivated, and loves to chew on toys, bones and sticks. She accepts treats rather well for her young age. Petunia is an adorable little girl who loves to play, be petted and snuggle! She likes to chew on your hands when playing, but when ... (Read More)she's directed towards a chew stick or toy... she loves that too! Petunia is friendly and easy-going. Her foster parents haven't heard her bark yet! She did well in the car. Boxer Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Molly is learning the basics well. She knew 'sit, down, eat, treat & walk' and has learned 'back, up, off, and no/yes/stay'in verbal & ASL. She's a very bright girl. She has also learned how to catch treats mid-air... a trick, completely foreign to her just a week ago. Old dog... new trick(s). Myth busted! Molly sleeps on a couch all night with no problems. She can be trusted in the home, alone, without a crate. She has no food/toy/attention aggression with people. She has a quiet, brief bark (truly!) that's only heard if a new loud noise spooks her, but she is learning that many city noises are OK and normal. She is eager to go for walks ... (Read More)& puts her funny pants on anytime she thinks it may be walk time! One look at the leash & she's on cloud nine! On walks, she is mindful & easily managed on a standard harness. Other dogs only really excite her when they are in her personal space. Dog parks are not for Molly. Molly prefers human females to males. She is submissive to all adults, but especially men. Hovering motions above her and quick movements around her can cause her to cower, but she is making good progress in understanding things are good - and that she is good :) She loves belly rubs and will snuggle with you most any time. Molly may thrive with a larger, male dog in her life, but seems content to also have the house to herself. Molly would love a home without smaller animals, cats, or other female dogs. She is an alpha-female, though you'd never know it in the absence of other pets. Molly will walk all day long, or will sleep all day long... she's easy to please. If you'd like to meet Molly, please fill out the online app today! Jack Russell Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I go by the name Ingelbert, I have a cute and quirky personality to match! I'm about 5 years old, 11lbs, and was recently vaccinated and neutered. I could get used to all this 'getting taken care of!' Sociable? Absolutely! I like other dogs and kids, and I have a feeling I would like cats too because I walked right on by a neighbourhood cat the other day with no problem! I am a serious snuggler and am a-ok with being handfed (I wasn't kidding - I LOVE being pampered!). I have no food aggression, and will take treats gently. I have some trouble taking larger items, so it is possible I'm missing some teeth in the back of my mouth. I have ...     Big Red needs a Foster Home. If you can foster Big Red, please fill out the online foster app today! Hi, my name is Big Red, and I'm just as sweet as I am BIG. I absolutely LOVE everyone, especially kids - I'm at my very happiest when playing with children. My super-sensitive nose can search out any hidden food in the house... I love this game! I need a home with a human who is a strong leader; one who is familiar with my large, strong breed and who will provide the training necessary to improve on my social skills (like learning to share with other dogs) and separation anxiety. I enjoy car rides and just like sitting in the back minding my ... (Read More)own business. I guess it is relaxing for me because sometimes I will settle in for a nice snooze. I am working on leash training and at learning some other cool skills, and I've heard rumblings that I'm smart and easy to train, so with consistency I know I'll be at the top of my class in no time. I get pretty excited for treats, and take them gently, so this could be a great motivator for me to learn new things. I'm an active and strong guy and would love a busy, active family, with people who might take me for a morning jog. I'm also content laying around indoors with you on rainy days. Don't let my big 'ole toothy smile scare you because I am a submissive fellow and just giving you a big 'welcome home' grin! If you are looking to add a big, handsome guy to your family and are willing to continue my social skills training, then please fill out the paperwork to make me part of your home - my forever home!     My name is Lewis, and I am a great companion. I am a two year old Pit Bull mix who is so happy and relieved to finally be out of the shelter (thank goodness I was rescued, they were going to put me down because of my breed!!). I was extremely skinny and so shy when I was first rescued, but now I love people. I love playing with toys, having my belly rubbed, and I am an awesome cuddler! I love to be around people and am already house broken. I listen very well, but I am still learning some of the basic commands. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Senior

Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Here's the story of this pretty 'pocket pittie' Princess: While working at a veterinary hospital in Fremont, CA, an amazing lifesaver named Genelle took ownership of a sweet, loving 9 year old female 'pocket' Pitbull mix named Princess. The owners of Princess had brought her in twice for euthanasia; the second time they brought her in with multiple broken teeth as a result of forced crating. Genelle convinced them both visits to give her more time to place Princess in a new home. The family was moving into a residence that did not accept Pit mixes and they no longer had time for her. Finally, in late February, Genelle took ownership of ... (Read More)Princess even though she could not keep her either. Genelle has contacted over three dozen no-kill shelters and rescues, but no one seems to have room. Even the local county shelter is full. Genelle had been boarding Princess at various vet offices using personal funds, which was not sustainable. Princess is now being fostered at Genelle's home, but Princess needs a forever home urgently!! She needs a home that has the time and patience to help re-train her and overcome her newly brought-on separation anxiety (after all this shuffling around). You would be rewarded with an adoring family dog that will love you forever! She has made leaps and bounds while staying with Genelle over the past month and a half. Princess has gone from being a highly anxious dog always on alert to a more relaxed playful kissing machine. Not only is Princess wonderful with children, but she is very energetic and would make an ideal hiking or running buddy. Perhaps she could even be an agility dog because she loves to jump over things. Princess lived with children most of her life who are now 15 months and 11 years old. Ideally, she would be an only dog as she can be temperamental with certain dogs and cats while off leash. She knows and usually obeys basic commands (like come, sit, stay, and shake). Princess is very affectionate and simply loves to be around people. Princess is current on her vaccines, flea & heartworm prevention, and is spayed. Recently, a longtime mass on Princess was diagnosed as a grade I or II tumor and now needs to be removed along with some of her broken teeth in which the roots are now exposed. It's a pricey operation, but Princess is worth saving!! She has a lot of good years left and is an extremely sweet girl. If you would like to meet or adopt Princess and give her a forever home, please contact Genelle today. *If you are able to sponsor Princess to help with her medical costs or any temporary boarding please contact Genelle today!* Genelle can be reached at the following phone and email.
